Traditional Dinner

We went to the Traditional Northern Thai Dinner tonight (I don’t remember the whole name, though it starts with a “K”). Don’t bother. It’s not worth the money.

To ChiangMai and Beyond!

Let’s just cover the last day in Bangkok first, shall we?

We went to the Palace – a must see. The adjacent temple is incredible, the palace is beautiful and there are some museums – including the Coins Museum – that are wonderful. Give yourself a good 3+ hours though, as there is really that much to see.. Unlike us, also try to get some sleep before you go..

Shopping! :)

Today was another day that started later than planned – which is perfectly fine by me, as we went to sleep at 5 in the morning.. (Never bring really good books with you when you travel! Instead of seeing the sites, you end up reading your book! LOL!) We decided to go see the Weekend Market – Chatuchak Market, since (as implied by the name) it’s only open on the weekends.. I had a really good time walking around, absorbing the interesting sights and sounds (and tastes – more interesting but unidentifiable fruits and nuts! 🙂 Yum! ) and shopping for clothes, mostly. Souvenier shopping will have to wait until the day before we fly.. 🙂

I don’t like Windows!

Sorry – This is the 3rd time I’m trying to write my post, as each time something happens to everything I had written. It is *so* annoying! (Especially as only some of it is Microsoft’s fault, but some of it is my own stupidity..)

So.. The day started with Oded’s new alarm clock *not* going off. So we started the day at around eleven instead of around eight… So we threw all our previous plans out the window, as the temples close at noon, and tried to decide what to do.. What we decided, in the end, was to plan today for tomorrow and tomorrow – wake up early! 🙂

Sorry, no hebrew today

This computer is hebrew chalanged, unlike the surprisingly hebrew capable XP we used yesterday, this cafe which seats in the middle of Bangkok’s “Israeli” zone doesn’t sport this much needed feature (I still don’t believe that some people still use Windows 98). Also, this is the first internet shop I saw which uses actual internet cafe software to lock computers – all others on this trip used the old ledger method – they write your seat number and time you started in a ledger 🙂

Anyway – as Karen explained – we’re going ragtag today. We got a room at one of the classier joint off Khoa San, which is to say – we got a room with air conditioning, hot water (we think – haven’t tested yet) and an actuall toilet seat ! yey us :-).
Its also remarkably claustorphobic..
