I never meant to imply that the Israeli actions (recent or otherwise) had anything to do with the Hamas victory. I firmly believe in the Palestinians’ ability (and right) to fuck themselves over on their own. Hamas, in addition to being a terror group and a political party, is also a charity organization and I expect that their victory had a lot more to do with that then with the blame of “Israeli terror” they keep trumping. (BTW – its interesting to note that in that regard, the Hamas has a lot in common with an Israeli political party who wins votes through charity work, and I won’t name names).

There has been a recent controversy over the Hamas won elections, where Likud members have blamed the Ulmert ran temporary government of providing financial support to the Palestinian government – the one which is about to be overtaken by a known terrorist organization – and more recently people came up with “so called” proof that the Palestinian government had been financing their own terror groups (El-Akza batallions et al.) using Israeli money.
I expect all this to have stayed firmly in the background if it wasn’t for the Hamas victory. I’m not really that naive – I’m sure there is some person or group who expect these events to be beneficial, and is stirring up the issues, but I’m not sure yet of who or why.
