Open source, the warning label

Yesterday I bought a new wireless router – the product currently available in Israel from Linksys’ successful WRT54G series is the WRT54GL, which again features Linux as the internal operating system for the device.

It was also nice to find this sticker on the box:
Open source label for the WRT54GL, close up
Which clearly advertises Linksys’ obligations under the licesnses for the free software they were using.

As a side note, when I showed it to my girlfriend’s father, he shrugged it off in a “what do I care about it” manner. So we still need some more evangelizing around 🙂
