Regarding the above comment - my bad: the bottom bar in the Opera Mini is a progress bar. it should advance but it says "processing" w/o advancing while it can't connect.

Opera Mini always says "processing" without filling up - its not really a progress bar, regardless of what we are used to from the original Opera Mobile.

Check if it happens for all sites, in which case you probably want to check your internet connection settings.

The version of Opera Mini (basic or advanced) depends on which version of MIDP is supported on the phone.

Hey - I got Opera Mini on my 6600 (which I got back) and it works just fine on it. The screen is larger so it can fit more text on it, and its just as awesome as on the 6280 :-)

It takes a bit more time to get it to start then the Symbian native Opera version, but not by a lot, and for short browsing sessions its much nicer to use then either the builtin browser or the Symbian Opera version.

[...] I’ve been using Opera Mini for a while now on my Razr v3 and the clock at the bottom has been a real life saver. Sansblog agrees. [...]

I tried Opera Mini on an older series 40 handset - a Nokia 6100. Apparently you get a different browser for each handset: the application is still called Opera Mini version 1.2, but its much smaller (63KB while the version installed on the 6280 is 100KB) and it has a bit different user interface:
* The settings page is smaller with much less options.
* No smooth scrolling
* The "select" key is '*' instead of the directional selector which is not available on the older handset.
* There is no chrome at all: the API for j2me (MIDP/1.0, I think?) doesn't let you use one, so you get an "Opera Mini" title at the top and the bottom always have the multi-key assignments.

Its also a bit slower and less responsive then on the 6280, but its still plainly much better then the builtin browser and is good enough. I would use it if I had a 6100.
