Yep, that sounds about right.

What is interesting (to me anyway), is that the game is full encoded using HTML and Javascript – each ghost or pacman and also all the dots are graphics assigned using CSS to HTML DIV elements, which are moved on the screen using Javascript (source code is here at the moment – it is minified but its not hard to figure out what is going on).

The latest Java Runtime Edition, in the latest version, has multiple vulnerabilities and no updates available. It acknowledged multiple problems. There is enough disclosed for exploits to be created on the net. Unfortunately, the only workaround is the workaround we all know to well – which is to disable Javascript to prevent the Java Runtime Edition components from being exploited until Sun updates themselves.

Well, obviously the guy is a security expert and not a programming expert so its OK that he doesn’t know that Java has nothing to do with Javascript and disabling Javascript will not affect the Java plugin. No, wait, what?

I’ve heard from several others that Security Now sucks (I think also on the Linux Outlaws podcast, which is a great podcast) but I decided to give it a try anyway and it completely failed. I don’t think I’m going to ever manage to hear the rest after that announcement.

Up until that item, they just talked about some “security patches” to MS-Windows applications, which has about as much relation to internet security as telling someone that is worried that people will break into his home to plant some bushes behind his picket fence – i.e. not much except in lay-people’s minds.

הדבר השני, והמבריק יותר שמצאתי הוא התיאור של הרעיון באתר highDEAS.com. המאמר עצמו לא מרחיב כלום מעבר לרעיון עליו כבר דיברנו, אבל האתר עצמו גאוני ומגדיר את עצמו כאתר רעיונות “‪for the best ideas (when you’re high)‬” . יש שם הרבה רעיונות “גאוניים”, כמו מסעדה עם תפריט בניית סושי – לרמת בחירת המרכיבים של הרול או Iron Chef למוזיקה.

It was a simple thing really – click the clearly marked “opt-out link” at the top of the email, and I get directed to a web page with a clear “Confirm Opt-Out” button. It doesn’t get much better then that, until the confirmation page that made me do double take (or in my case, “K, thanks, . eh, what was that?! ”):

Why, oh mighty lords of the internet, does it take 10 days to process an electronic confirmation? Reminds me of that joke about filing the form in cabinet, letting it age for a week before pulling it out for processing.
