The treks Ofir, Elad and me did 5 years ago was a mounted trek – we joined an ad-hoc group of Israelis (about 30 Israelis just happened to be in the same place in Chiang-Mai – a rarer occurence today) and got small Suzuki Carebean jeeps (4 people each) and drove ourselves arround for three days. We visited Pai, Chiang-Rai and a few villages in between. We covered a lot more ground in just 3 days, but it was much less “get down rough in the jungle”, or what people these days call “Eco-treks”.
The worst jungle we got was when we got stuck in a mud slide on a jungle road.
