Put $$$BIGCLOUD aside for a moment and think about smaller enterprises like KeyDB. Instead of trying to figure out where the line is drawn and causing their Legal team major headaches, they created another fork (of plain Redis) that keeps the old rules of the game. It’s very similar to the situation the Opentofu folks have found themselves in, and there wasn’t even a $$$BIGCLOUD player involved there.

PS: I am still waiting for someone to show the world how to comply with those license terms when offering the software as a service. Companies that switch their OSS to SSPL are such hypocrites.
