Apple thanks open-source contributors
For everyone who’s been living under a rock for the past few years, Apple browser – Safari – is based on the KHTML rendering engine and KJS JavaScript engine from KDE. Apple copied them to create their own open source project: Webkit, which attracted some open-source developers that contributed to webkit projects and to products that are based on them – Apple’s Safari most notably, but 3rd party MacOSX web browsers are using it as well, and also Nokia’s Series 60 3rd edition web browser (And its really nice that Nokia credits both Webkit and KDE).
Now Apple is trying to give back to the community by rewarding top Webkit contributors with Macbook Pro laptops.
I finally got to try out Opera Mini
I changed mobile handsets with some girl at work (she needed to test stuff on a Nokia 6600, which is what I usually carry around), and I got a Nokia 6280 which is a Series 40 handset (Release 2).
So I took liberty of going to Opera’s web site (using the built-in Nokia browser which does XHTML, which makes it not completly useless, but it generally just sucks), and downloaded their latest mobile browser offering (for the not so mobile usage, check out the latest 9.0 TP2). I’ve heard a lot about it – I use the Opera Series 60 symbian version (8.5 currently) and everytime I visit their “My Opera” page there’s a “mini” ad on top.

היום בדרך לעבודה, שמעתי ברדיו (בתוכנית הבוקר של רפי רשף) את גלעד ארדן (ליכוד) מתנצח עם אברהם הירשזון (קדימה, ליכוד לשעבר), ואחת הנקודות שהוא טרח להטיח בהירשזון היא ש”אהוד אולמרט נתן לחמאס לנצח בבחירות על ידי זה שנתן להם לקיים את הבחירות במזרח ירושליים”. הירשזון רק ציין שההשפעה של מזרח ירושליים על התוצאות הסופיות היתה קטנה מאוד אם בכלל והחמאס היה מנצח בכל מקרה.
יום הולדת שמח לי היום!
או אתמול, לפי התאריך – כי היום כבר מחר.
עוד יום הולדת הסתיים ועוד שנה עברה. באופן מאד צפוי, כשאני מסתכל אחורה על השנה האחרונה, הדבר העיקרי שאני יכול להגיד עליה זה: היתה עוד שנה. החיים שלי כבר לא מעניינים כמו פעם, השגרה זורמת מיום ליום ושום דבר מדהים ומרתק לא קורה. השיא של השנה כנראה היה הטיול לתאילנד עם קרן.
חוץ מזה היו לי הרבה תוכניות גרנדיוזיות שאף לא אחת יצאה על הפועל, וכולן כמובן ידחו לשנה הנוכחית 🙂
